What is Motability?

The Motability Scheme offers a cost-effective, hassle-free way for people with disabilities to lease a new car, with benefits that include road tax, insurance, maintenance and breakdown assistance.

How do I know if I am eligible for Motability?

If you receive a qualifying mobility allowance that has at least 12 months remaining, you’re eligible for Motability.

Qualifying allowances:

Enhanced rate mobility part of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

Higher rate mobility part of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

Can I buy my Motability vehicle at the end of my lease?

No, but you can lease a brand new vehicle when your current lease ends.

Can family members drive my Motability car?

Yes, as long as they do so for your benefit. Motability allows you to name up to three people on your insurance, including family members and carers.
