We are now looking for a Used Vehicle Preparation Technician for our site in Doncaster. We offer full time hours with a competitive rate of pay dependent on experience, and bonus.

This role is perfect for a technician from an independent garage background who’s used to working on multiple manufacturers and is looking to take the next step within a main dealer group.

The Role – What you’ll be doing

Your day-to-day role will be to carry out scheduled maintenance, servicing, and repairs across a variety of makes and models, as well as prepare vehicles for collection or sale.

You’ll bring efficiency, accuracy, and attention to detail, ensuring vehicles are prepared to the highest safety, quality and retail standards before handover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out multi-point inspections, servicing, and repair work on a wide range of vehicle makes and models
  • Identify and complete any required mechanical, electrical, or cosmetic repairs to manufacturer and group standards
  • Diagnose and resolve faults across different systems using diagnostic tools and technical information
  • Ensure all vehicles are prepared in line with safety regulations, MOT standards, and customer expectations
  • Work efficiently to agreed deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality of work
  • Accurately complete job cards, inspection sheets, and relevant workshop documentation
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with health and safety requirements

What We’re Looking For

To thrive as a Used Car Preparation Technician, you will need:

  • At least Level 2 IMI qualification (or equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance
  • Solid experience working with multiple vehicle manufacturers and models – independent garage experience is especially valued
  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills across mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and commitment to high standards
  • A full UK driving licence with no excessive points or disqualification

Desirable but not essential:

  • MOT licence
  • EV/Hybrid training or certification
  • OEM/manufacturer training accreditations
